The composition of the Tap Hole Clay can be divided into two parts - refractory aggregate and binder. Refractory aggregate refers to corundum, mullite, coke and other refractory materials and coke, mica and other modified materials. The binder is water or tar and phenolic resin and other organic materials, but also mixed with SiC, Si3N4, expansion agents and admixtures. Aggregate according to a certain size and weight composition of the matrix, in the reconciliation of the binder to make it have a certain plasticity, which can be hit through the clay gun iron mouth.

1. Pay attention to heat preservation, generally 20-60 degrees Celsius is good.

2. It can not be mixed with water. Otherwise it will lose the performance of stemming.

3. The size of the tap hole eye should be appropriate when open the iron notch, in order to ensure the tapping time. Generally 60-80mm diameter is appropriate.

4. Don’t withdraw the clay gun immediately as soon as stem the tap hole. Please wait for 10-20 minutes to prevent the opening of the taphole.

Brief Introduction 
 

 

"Introduction"

 

Tap hole clay is a kind of refractory which is used for stem the flow of iron melt. It can be divided into two classes: water-bearing taphole clay and waterless taphole clay. The former is used for small and medium blast furnaces (150 cubic meters) and the latter for large and medium blast furnaces. 

Our company waterless taphole clay is researched after choosing ingredient strictly and testing repeatedly. We use the special compound Raw materials and additive to make the waterless taphole clay with high erosion resistance and good fillibility.

 

 

"Classification and Composition"

 

1. The main components of water taphole clay are refractory clay, coke powder, asphalt, water.

2. The main components of waterless taphole clay are coke powder, refractory clay powder, asphalt, bauxite and corundum, silicon carbide, sericite, anthracene oil dehydration. 

3. The components will be different according to different blast furnace capacity.

 

"Property"

 

1. Stem the flow of iron melt with taphole clay. It has good fillibility and agglutinating property.  

2. Good plasticity and agglutinating value. easy to squeeze into and fill gaps and cracks.

5. Easy opening to make sure the molten iron and slag flow out at a uniform rate.

 

 

The blast furnace stemming is used to block the taphole. When the blast furnace does not produce liquid iron slag, stemming filled in the iron mouth, the iron mouth maintain a certain depth. When blast furnace produce iron, some channels are drilled out on the core of the stemming, and liquid iron slag is discharged out of the furnace through the channel. During this period, it is required that the aperture of the iron hole is stable, the iron size is uniform and the tapping time is long. Becasue the blast furnace outlet must be opened and blocked repeatedly, it's required that the stemming needs to be easy sintering, easy opening and erosion resistant. The stemming is erosioned by slag chemicals because the SiO2, CaO, MgO and FeO in the slag are chemically reacted with the stemming at high temperature to produce the iron periolite 2FeO, SiO and iron pansy 2FeO, Ai2O3, SiO2 etc. These low-melting additives becoming liquid slag flow out in the process of tapping.
If the quality of blast furnace stemming is not good, there will appear tidal iron mouth, broken iron mouth, opening difficulty, shallow iron mouth, deterioration of the working condition, etc., which affect the normal production of blast furnace.
